I did it again!

Gargnano is one of my favourite places on the lake Garda.

It is around some two hours by car from the village where I live.

Some days ago I spent some days there (again). Hence the title of this post (I did it again

When I am in Gargnano I usually head to Maderno (a village) to have a cup of coffee a a stroll.

A thing to do in Maderno, is to take a long hike in order to enjoy a great landscape over this village.

I headed to via Benamati; a street in the old core of Maderno and then I went uphill.

This is the reward I got after the hike!

Manerba del Garda is a town made of seven disctricts.

There is a beautiful and long beach there; La Romantica beach

I had a long stroll along this beach.

You can see the spiaggia dei Conigli (the rabbits' beach) also called spiaggia di San Biagio from there.

It is a private beach, but you can go there. There is a fee to pay.

I have read that you can reach this beach by foot if the tide is low.

Just some meters from the La Romantica beach; outside a house there is a handmade crib to see.

It is in a garden, but if you find the gate open you can go inside.

This beautiful crib was made by a retired man. He still keep on creating new items for this.

It is a very rich crib as you can see. It is partly movable.

Solarolo is one of the districts of Manerba. It is really a beautiful place.

There are some shops, a cafes and a restaurants or more in this village.

Long ago there was a castle in Solarolo. Today only a tower and a piece of wall remain of this castle.

You can enjoy a great landscape from Solarolo!

Salò is a town not far from Manerba del Garda.

Here you see Porta (door) dell' Orologio, o Torre (tower) dell' Orologio.

It was built in the XIII century. It was restored and a clock was placed there in the XVII century.

This is the main street in Salò; via San Carlo.

There are lots of shops and cafes and some restaurants in via San Carlo.

This is piazza Angelo Zanelli.

Here you see the statue of the patron saint of Salò. San Carlo.

I visited the Saint Maria Annunziata church. It is the cathedral (or duomo).

It was built between the half XV century and the beginning of the XVI century ont the ruins of a previous chuch

Every year, a nativity scene is set up outside the cathedral.

Another beautiful area in Salò is the Lungolago Zanardelli.

This lakeside promenade is very long.

It is bordered by a good choice of restaurants, cafes and shops.

At the end of the lungolago I discovered these small houses.

This is piazza Vittorio Emanuele II; also called "la Fossa". It is practically a long boulevard.

I visited the harbour of Portese. Long ago it was a fishermens' village.

Portese is a disctrict of San Felice del Benaco (a village).

As you can see you can enjoy a good landscape at the harbour of Portese.

Unfurtunately the cafes and restaurants at the port are closed in the winter.

There is a lavatory though.

The weather was fine when I had this holiday; the pre Christmas athmosfere was great.

I couldn' t have asked for more!
